Advertising policy

This Advertising Policy is provided by Alight Media as a reference to the types of advertising content permitted and prohibited across our out-of-home and retail media portfolio.  


It is important to note that these guidelines are not legally binding and do not represent a complete compilation of Alight Media’s comprehensive internal advertising policies.

Alight Media retains the right to refuse, remove, or restrict the placement of advertisements across our network based on these guidelines and our full internal advertising policies.


Upon receipt of an order, each advertisement undergoes a thorough review. We examine and verify commercial content to ensure its compliance with legal, ethical, and audience-appropriate standards.


We adhere to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising and Direct & Promotional Marketing (CAP Code), as applicable. This code is the rule book for non-broadcast advertisements, sales promotions and direct marketing communications (marketing communications). All copy should be legal, decent, honest, and truthful, and comply with CAP Code and ASA guidelines. Free copy advice is available over the phone, 020 7492 2100, and on the website, www.asa.org.uk.

We mandate that advertisements refrain from content that could cause harm or serious or widespread offense and comply with societal standards.

Advertising across the Alight Media network:

  • Must not be indecent, obscene, or display nudity.
  • Must not depict scenes of violence or weapons.
  • Must not contain offensive language or swearing.
  • Must not contain imagery that suggests the panel has been damaged or defaced.

We also consult and comply with the requirements of our landlords and partners where relevant. In some locations and environments, the types of advertising may need to consider the following:

  • Must be HFSS compliant.
  • No reference to body image.
  • No adult entertainment.
  • No matters of public controversy or sensitivity.
  • No political campaigns or ads of a religious nature.
  • No contentious campaigns that could enflame tensions about international conflict.
  • No cigarettes or tobacco advertising.

We employ both automated and manual review processes to conduct checks across all our formats and platforms, regardless of the booking method.

Alight Media reserves the right to decline, remove, or restrict the platforms and time slots in which an advertisement is placed.
