Alight Media wins Telford 6 sheet contract

Media owner to bring first roadside digital 6 sheets to Telford and Wrekin

LONDON, 13 August 2020: Alight Media, the challenger in out-of-home media, has won the exclusive 6 sheet contract covering the Telford and Wrekin area following a competitive tender. The win extends Alight’s portfolio of frames by nearly 100, strengthening its bus shelter offering, and bringing the media owner’s total audience to 9.2 million UK adults each fortnight.

Alight Media plans to digitise a number of the bus shelters, bringing the first roadside digital 6 sheets to the area. The contract runs for five years, with extension options.

Matthew Dearden, CEO, Alight Media, said: “This is good news for both us and the market, as we plan to bring the first wave of digitisation to this part of the country. We’re excited to bring the first roadside digital 6 sheets to Telford and look forward to working with clients, both nationally and locally, who want to take advantage of that to reach this unique audience.”

In addition, the media owner will be working with the local business community on a number of initiatives, including priority access to its SME Generator scheme, which provides three months of free display if a 12 month campaign is booked. Alight Media will also be supporting the Future Destinations and Pre-Apprenticeship programme, offering mentoring and training.

Councillor Lee Carter, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Neighbourhood, Commercial Services and Regeneration, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to award this contract after a robust tendering process.

“Not only will Alight Media bring cutting edge technology through high quality digital infrastructure to our bus shelters but they will also deliver an exciting range of social value benefits to those who need them most.

“I look forward to the contract starting on September 1.”

Alight Media has also this week announced the completion of the build of its paper estate in South Yorkshire, following its successful bid for the contract last year. There are now over 800 Alight Media frames available to clients in key areas such as Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster, covering the majority of all buyable Roadside 6s in South Yorkshire. The new panels have been built with low energy LED lighting systems, reducing power consumption by 40% and improving display. Preparatory work has also been done for the installation of new digital screens in the area.

Matthew Dearden added: “South Yorkshire is a region with real economic and cultural value, so naturally it’s a key investment spot for clients. The addition of both South Yorkshire and Telford to our portfolio, which already includes the South West region and Bournemouth town centre, as well as a growing national D48 offering, are important steps as we help to bring truly national reach to advertisers.”
