Warrington green mile

We have partnered with the award-winning Net Zero technology and services business to minimise our carbon footprint in communities across the UK

Alight has announced an exclusive partnership with Etesian Green to install bus shelters and street furniture products. As well as being a leading out-of-home media owner, Alight works with local authorities to provide essential community infrastructure. This partnership will reduce the carbon footprint of bus shelters and street furniture through the use of recycled materials, sustainable clean energy technology and mini ecological habitats.

Traditionally, bus shelters in the UK have been sourced from international suppliers, however Alight selected a UK-based manufacturer with BSO EN ISO 14001 Environmental accreditation to not only improve lead times for shelter supply, but further minimise the transport and delivery impact on its carbon footprint.

All Etesian Green’s products are manufactured using recycled materials. This includes recycled glass and plastic bottles, while aluminium, glass, polycarbonate and fixings are also all recyclables.

The partnership also includes the installation of 36 living roof shelters in Warrington as part of Alight’s ‘green mile’ initiative. These rooves are rich in sedum plants, contributing to biodiversity. A 500m grass central reservation has also been seeded and re-wilded by funds from a green finance pot provided by Alight.

During this long-term collaboration, Etesian Green will also plant a tree in their eco-forest for each installation, through the ecologi positive climate scheme. These initiatives will be communicated via content on Alight’s digital out-of-home network for the first three months, adding local council and community engagement to the partnership.

“In partnering with Alight Media, we are expanding on the fantastic work we do with forward facing local authorities around the country. This partnership will provide for local communities and help the nation meet its net zero goals.”

Matthew Browne, CEO, Etesian Green

“For businesses such as ours, the bulk of our carbon footprint is generated by manufacturing products and installations. This partnership is our latest step to help minimise that impact. Etesian Green's commitment to environmental responsibility matches our own ethos and we’re excited to work together to further develop eco-friendly infrastructure in the UK."
